Mama’s fabulous knits. #2

Hellooo, fellow bloggers!

I’m back with another knitting-related post and it’s for the series: “Mama’s fabulous knits” because… well, they ARE fabulous and I can’t not share with you (don’t want to brag or anything haha).

So this dress was my Moms first mohair dress ever and, as I’ve mentioned in my last post (Mama’s fabulous knits. #1),  it wasn’t as successful as expected. The sleeves were too loose, the skirt – a bit too fluffy, the waistline turned out too low for my body type so some parts had to be ripped out… Uhh.. Such a hassle. We had some problems with the under-dress too because the sewer didn’t do her job properly and even though she took hundreds of measurements, the under-dress was not flattering at all and I looked like cask.. so I had to look for something in my closet 😦

In the end, the finished product looked great. Especially for people, who don’t have an understanding about knitting hahaha.

Check it out and tell me what you think^^

This dress is already one year old (as well as the pictures) and I still remember the photoshoot like it was last week. It’s crazy how fast the time flies *wipes the tear off the cheek*

Thanks for reading, guys and ’till the next post!

Mama’s fabulous knits. #1

Hello, lovely people of the Internet!

It’s been all about the knitting for the last 1-2 months. I have my own project that still needs to be finished (it’s related with clothing and my graduation event. Sshhh!), my Mum and have have another project together. Urgh, It’s hectic. I don’t have “normal” weekends anymore because it seems like I’ve been glued with my crochet hook (no surprise it’s already bent..). So, because I’ve been living in this kind of atmosphere for a while, I decided to post something related with that 🙂

My Mama is a self-taught knitter. She started at a young  age and improved/grew a lot since then. At the very beginning she was just playing around with doilies, basic sweaters for herself and cute little clothes for me and my brother. When she noticed that there were lots of people who wanted to buy something handmade, personalized, unique, Mum decided to sell her little knits. It’s wasn’t anything crazy at first though. She was focusing only on clothing for kids and accessories because, as she said, it was easier and not as demanding. She’s been in her “bubble”/comfort zone for couple years when she decided to experiment and create something “big”. It was a mohair dress that she was making for like… 4 moths. Mama (as well as I)  was really proud of herself and because of that, she wanted to knit another dress (it’s like an upgraded, more professional version of the first one). Surprisingly, It only took her ~3 weeks to finish it. The dress was beyond everything.

It’s crazy how Mama improved: from doilies, baby hats to fabulous dresses for women. And there’s no end for that. She already has dozens of ideas in her head, and the current project we’re working on… Can’t wait to see!

So I wanted to pair this  dress with something edgy (brownish lips, choker, winter boots) to point out the girliness, lightness and delicacy of the dress. I think I succeeded.. ^^

By the way, it was only+3 °C during the potoshoot. Yikes! but it wasn’t as bad as I expected thought. Thanks to the mohair!

I hope you enjoyed:) Show some love for us, knitters (especially my Mum)

#000000 & #FFFFFF

Hello, pretty people of the Internet!

Haven’t posted anything in a while… Well, blame my laziness and let’s move on.

I attended my grandma’s birthday about a month ago and here’s the look that I chose. It’s a lot calmer compared to my last OOTD “RAINBOW ON EARTH“^^

It’s a little bit of everything: edgy because of slicked back hair (the new thing I’m trying to pull off) and smoky makeup, also classy ’cause of black&white *like The NBHD (any The Neighbourhood fans here?)*. And yea, I HAD to add a little off green and blue for some fun and cool contrast.

This OOTD is the perfect example. Try to guess how much the outfit (without accessories) cost… 2.30 freaking Euros!! Praise the person who invented thrifting!!!

Ok, gotta go now because… The candy from my advent calendar is waiting for meh!

THE PRETTIEST PLACE IN LATVIA

Heyy, people of the Internet.

This post is related with my last one where I showed you you my outfit (you can check it out here: “CHECKED GUIPURE“). How? Well, I’ve mentioned the blue shoe bags. So yeah, the were given to us because we went to the palace of Rundale in Latvia – by far, one of the prettiest museums that I’ve seen.

So basically, this amazing palace was built in 18th century and belonged to a rich duke. It was only his summer residence. ONLY. I mean… deamn!

Sadly enough, during World War II it was damaged and so many things, such as paintings, were stolen or destroyed but at the end of 20th century the restoration work was started. It was only finished in 2014. I feel like not everything’s fully renovated because we weren’t able to see ALL of the rooms and halls because some of the doors were closed.

All halls/rooms of the palace are different but similar at the same time. Different because some of them have their own themes. For instance, one room has a wooden theme, another – a dark one, golden, floral, etc. Similar because the wallpapers were the same (only the color was different. It could be blue, red or green). It’s cool because you walk in one room – it’s green, go to another one – it’s almost the same as the last one but it’s red this time.

I feel like what impressed me the most was the halls because of the paintings and artwork on the ceiling and walls. The beauty of some other palaces is concentrated to the floor: fancy paintings, marble… But not there. Almost everywhere the floor was wooden and as simple as it could possibly be.

Besides that gorgeous and huge building there is also a HUGE and even more gorgeous park with an enormous rose garden with aaaaaall types of roses you can imagine.

So yeah, everything left us speechless because we weren’t expecting all that. You wouldn’t too hahah because this palace isn’t located in a well known place – basically, it’s in a middle of nowhere. Sooo if you’re planing to travel to the Baltic region, don’t forget to visit this piece of beauty!!

Enjoy the gallery^^ (P.S. there are some comments under the photos so you gotta press on them to read. Just saying haha)

Thanks for reading!

FLUFFY PASTELS

Helloooo, lovely people of the Internet.

Today I’m here to share my OOTD (Outfit Of The Day). I called it “Fluffy Pastels” and you’ll definitely agree as soon as you see it.

I feel like there’s a perfect harmony in this outfit because the colors match perfectly and both (top and bottom) pieces compliment each other very nicely: they’re like Yin and Yang haha. So yeah, I can’t really decide which is the statement piece of this outfit – floral jeans (Vero Moda) or this fluffy top/sweater/crop top thing (Atmosphere). It could be the pants because of their not-so-subtle/minimal print or it could be the cute top because of it’s fluffiness and the way it shines in the sun. So ummmm… you decide hahaha. To stay in the same color scheme I wore my navy ballerina pumps (Tamaris) and a shoulder bag (House).

So I felt confident, comfy and even cute in this outfit because I prefer wearing colorful rather then dark/black ones. Even if I do wear an all-black outfit, I have to add at least a tiny bright accessory for a pop of color. That’s just how I am haha.

Btw, while I was being photographed, I realized that I was standing in a field of blueberries (basically the same situation like in my last post “NATURE TONES“) so we ended up picking and eating them for almost 10 minutes. Uhh…children of Mama Nature….. hahaha

Oh, and I wanted my hair away from my face so  I did that upside down french braid and put my hair in a bun. I feel like it turned out great ^^

I hope that you enjoyed!

NATURE TONES

Heyy guys!!

How are you doing today? I hope everything’s just fine ^^

So I want to share my outfit with you today. This one is loose, comfy and all earth toned: the color of trousers remind me of moss and the black associates with soil. I feel like I really matched to the forest that we were in hahaha.

So you may recognize these loose high waisted trousers (Zara) from my other blog post, called “I AM A MUSICIAN?!“. This time I paired  them with this sheer kimono (Atmosphere) which has such a nice floral print. I wore a tiny black crop top (Takko. DIY’ed) and my trusty, old pumps (Vagabond) to keep the outfit simple. Oh, and for a bit of bling-bling I added a silver bracelet (H&M).

Btw, as we were walking in the park/forest, we found a field of blueberries and ended up picking some. Yeah, the final result was blue fingers, lips and teeth hahhah. Cute, I know.

Now, check out the gallery:

I hope you enjoyed. Until next time^^

HELLO!?

Helloo, people from the Internet!

I’m pretty sure you don’t know who I am and why I am here (sometimes I even ask that myself haha). Don’t worry, I’m writing this first blog (it sounds so weird to say out loud) to introduce myself. Sooo yeah, shall we begin? We shall!

Who am I?

I am a girl named Akvilė from Europe (Lithuania, to be exact). In case you were wondering, I‘m 17 years old.

What do I do?

Actually, I’ve already tried lots of different things: I used to sing in a choir, dance (jazz, street dance, traditional Lithuanian dance). I’ve studied at the Arts school (my subject: art and ceramics) for almost 5 years. Currently, I do aerobics and other stuff, related with being active, still (kinda) dance and I’m a stilt-walker.

Why am I here?

An idea of writing my own blog was sitting in my head for so long (since I’ve started reading magazines and blogs of others). I’ve always procrastinated. Maybe because I was afraid of something and had these excuses in my head: “No one is going to read it”, “I don’t know what to write about”. There were so many “what ifs”. But now I say to myself: “It’s JUST a blog. Who cares. No one’s going to beat you up for trying”.

I’ve noticed that I do soo many DIY (“Do It Yourself”) projects that it would be a shame not to share them. I enjoy looking at stuff that others make so I thought that people should also be intrested in what I come up with or even learn something from me.

Besides that, I love clothes. I just enjoy being creative and putting togeter different outfits. Some days I go for an edgy look, some days – for a girly one. I feel like my style is a bit… hmmm… something more than an average person’s in my area (maybe different?).  I mean… more than just a pair of black leggings and a white top (not saying that it’s bad though haha). I also love doing stuff with my hair. I just keep experimenting: different braids, ponytails, buns, etc.. So I thought I’d maybe blog some of my outfit ideas or cool tutorials to give someone inspiration.

Also I’m kinda in a relationship with food. I fell in love when I was about 11 years old (thanks Mom for letting me do anything and sorry for the mess that I made haha). I’m a dessert junkie but also I (try to) eat  healthy so I experiment a lot (even though sometimes those experiments aren’t as successful as I would like them to be haha). There are high hopes that I’ll post some of my favorite recipes ^^

P.S. Expect some of the most random posts about things related with my life, and stuff that I like. Just saying.

There are some more reasons why I’m here but I think that you’ve already got tired and/or bored from reading all this. I belive it’s enough for this time.

Sooooo… Thanks for reading!

Be different. Be weird.
